Sevgi Mutlu Sirakova is a PhD candidate in the Environment and Society Doctoral Program at the LMU-Rachel Carson Center in Munich, Germany. She is interested in traditional fermentation practices from her home countries, Bulgaria and Turkey. Her recent project traces old methods of yogurt making through ethnographic methods within her own community. Sevgi holds BSc and MSc degrees in Biology from Uludag University and completed her second master’s degree in Human Geography at University College London. She has been heavily engaged in environmental campaigns and green politics for over 20 years in Turkey.
