Heta is a sociologist and a science and technology studies scholar. Her particular interest and research background lies in analyses of health data from multiple perspectives – populations, biobanks, quality registers, data policies and so on. She is currently an Academy Research Fellow working on ‘wastewater as health data flow’. Wastewater uses in society are her interest broadly, covering screening of polio, covid-19 and use of illicit drugs. In relation to microbes, her project pays attention to how wastewater provides data of AMR. This part of her project focuses into sewage itself. Sewage carries microbes, pathogens and viruses that circulate through our bodies, but are equally parts of our environments, both home and abroad.
